Ruturaj Gaikwad Replaces MS Dhoni As CSK Captain Ahead Of IPL 2024

Ruturaj Gaikwad took over as captain of the Chennai Super Kings prior to the 2024 Indian Premier League, replacing MS Dhoni. Following Gaikwad’s attendance at the captains’ conference in Chennai prior to this year’s championship, the announcement was made on Thursday. MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma of the Mumbai Indians share the record of leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to five titles since the first IPL season.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has played six ODIs and 19 T20s for India, made his CSK debut in 2020 and went on to play 52 games for the five-time IPL champions. The right-handed opener made history last year when he collected 590 runs in 16 games at an incredible strike rate of 147.50.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed captain of the Chennai Super Kings by MS Dhoni prior to the start of the TATA IPL 2024 season. According to the team’s website, Ruturaj has been a vital member of the Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played in 52 IPL matches. It said, “The team looks forward to the upcoming season.”

Dhoni has led one of the most amazing journeys in sports history. Prior to being India’s best trophy collector and leading the team to the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011, he worked as a ticket collector at a train station.

IPL titles were won by CSK under Dhoni’s leadership in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. In 2010 and 2014, Dhoni guided CSK to two CLT20 championships. As a result, he is now the most successful skipper in both franchise and all-around cricket.
